In the years 2022 and 2023, Yokota held a series of thought-provoking cartoon exhibitions on the Ukrainian war, reaffirming his role as a cartoonist who doesn't shy away from addressing the real issues plaguing the world today.
2021 proved to be another banner year for Yokota. He was awarded the top prize in the cartoon category at the highly esteemed Japan Cartoonists Association's annual awards. This award was notably given for his war-themed political cartoon book, 'Cartoon Works by Yoshiaki Yokota'.
Furthermore, Yokota delivered a powerful paper at the 2021 AHSN conference and organised the “Wonderful? Wonder World 2018” international cartoon exhibition in Tokyo. His works were also highlighted at the 'Modern Ironic Graphics of Japan' exhibit in Russia.
